Got home from work at 7:20. The Italians work late. Grabbed the fam, and we headed down to Marina di Massa, about 5 minutes away.. by the sea (hence, "Marina"). I showed the girls the hotel where I usually stay when in Italy, near the pier. We enjoyed the sunset and chatted, or at least tried, with a friendly old couple. The old man kept saying, "Goodnight, my good friends", even in the middle of the conversation. The nice lady was enjoying the girls running around and was trying to figure out where Oregon was. "Nord di California" was the best I could figure out and that seemed to make enough sense.

We enjoyed a nice pizza and pasta dinner at La Carreta, and then of course stopped in for gelato next door. The Limone was a bit strong, but the Creme and Tiramisu flavors were fabulous. Maisie danced around the little shop and all the other customers waved to her and smiled.

Wow! Check out that mountain range above the town. A little snow up there. What are those mountains called, Mark? Very beautiful.
I believe they are called the Apuan Alps. Check out: http://www.michelangelosmountain.com/excerpt.htm. They are magnificent- though today they are shrouded in clouds and it's raining.
